Mary Lou's Angels

Picture
One of my great friends and mentor Mary Lou Palmer is retiring from the Washington School District. She was the principle for Moon Mountain School were my wife Renee teaches. Mary Lou is a dear friend and will be missed. She loves angels, and has them all around her home. I thought she would love these to add to her decor.

The technique I use is called Intarsia. Intarsia is making wood art from different species of wood. In this piece I used Haruru, a Peruvian wood. I also used Walnut Pine and a touch of African Paduke. I carefully choose color, wood grain, and character of the wood, and cut sand and shape each piece for it's position in the design. I love the natural look of wood.  I rarely use stain. Only a clear coat of polyurethane, or oil is all that's needed to bring out the natural beauty.

Please browse through my photo albums, video's and slide shows.  I add more projects to this website regularly. Please fill out the contact form. If you like, I will add you're email address to my mailing list.

If you have a custom design in mind. I would be glad to work with you. I also added a blog to this website. Feel free to let me know what you think, or have any questions.
